Stephanie ScarcellaAmerican mezzo-soprano Stephanie Scarcella studied at The Boston Conservatory (TBC), where she received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Music. Stephanie is currently a student of Dr. Rebecca Folsom, who she met at TBC and began studying with in 2009. In Februray 2011, while pursuing her Master of Music in Opera Performance, Stephanie performed the role Hansel in Humperdinck's charming fairy tale opera Hansel and Gretel. In March 2011 she played the ever-fun school-girl, Pitti Sing, in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado. Just after graduating that June, Ms. Scarcella participated in Arcadia Player's production of Handel's Xerxes, revisiting the role of Arsamene, which she first performed in the spring of 2009 at The Boston Conservatory. Stephanie Kraft of The Valley Advocate reviewed the 2011 performance and noted, “Stephanie Scarcella as Xerxes' brother Arsamene, on the other hand, gave her role the perfect androgynous patina and was, at appropriate times, convincingly angry.” Other operatic roles from her time at TBC include Dorothée in Cendrillon and Sally in Samuel Barber's A Hand of Bridge. In summer 2010 Stephanie traveled to Italy as a member of NAU'S Flagstaff in Fidenza summer program. There she sang in numerous recitals as well as productions of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, in which she sang the role of Zita, and in Suor Angelica the role of Maestra della Novizie. Stephanie has performed partial roles in opera scene programs that include Isabella in Rossini’s Italiana in Algeri, Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Meg Paige in Verdi's Falstaff, and Nancy in Britten's Albert Herring.

Stephanie received awards from The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions as a Gulf Coast Regional finalist in January 2011. Ms. Scarcella was also named semi-finalist for the graduate division in the national university competition held by Classical Singer Magazine in May 2010.

Stephanie feels equally at home in concert and recital settings. In December 2010 she was asked to return to her hometown of Casper, Wyoming and perform a solo recital for ARTCORE. She has performed as the alto soloist in major works including Bach Cantata BWV 4, Haydn mass in E flat (the great organ mass), Saint Saens Christmas Oratorio, and Vivaldi’s Gloria. Ms. Scarcella graduated in May 2011 with her Master of Music in Opera from The Boston Conservatory, where she also received her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance in May 2009.
