Dana MaelznerPaul R. Ketchen attended Syracuse University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music degree, with Performance Honors. Studying under William Harris, Mr. Ketchen has held the principal trombone chair in the Syracuse University Orchestra, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, and Trombone Choir, played bass trombone in the Syracuse University Jazz Ensemble, and was a founding member of the Syracuse University Trombone Quartet. Mr. Ketchen then attended the Florida State University for his Master of Music Education degree. Under the study of Dr. John Drew, Mr. Ketchen performed with the Symphonic Band, was a founding member and lead trombone player of the Seminole Swing Machine, and was both a member and associate conductor of the Florida State University Trombone Choir. Mr. Ketchen has also worked as a trombone and low brass clinician at various music camps and local honor band festivals, including the Florida State University Summer Music Camps and the SEMSBA Senior Festivals.

Mr. Ketchen is proud to be in his fifth year as Director of Instrumental Music at Hanover High School, where he directs the HHS Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Lab Band, Jazz Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble. Mr. Ketchen also teaches introductory level courses in piano, music theory and technology, advanced courses in jazz improvisation and analysis, and AP Music Theory as part of the Hanover High School Music Curriculum.

Mr. Ketchen is a member of NAfME, the National Association for Music Education; SEMSBA, the Southeastern Massachusetts School Bandmasters Association; MICCA, the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association; MAJE, the Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators; Kappa Kappa Psi, the Honorary Fraternity for College Band Members; and ITA, the International Trombone Association.

In addition to teaching instrumental music at Hanover High School, Mr. Ketchen currently teaches trombone, euphonium and tuba at the Quincy Point Music Academy, and performs as a free-lance musician in the Boston area.
