Dana MaelznerDana Mälzner, soprano, received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Longy School of Music Conservatory in 2006. Since 2005, she holds the soprano soloist position at Quincy Point Congregational Church in Quincy, MA and maintains a private vocal studio. In addition to her position as a voice teacher at QPMA, Dana also directs 2 children’s choruses, teaches voice and speech at the German International school in Boston. Dana has appeared ensembles throughout the New England area performing opera and sacred works. Operatic roles included the lead role in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Linfea (La Calisto), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Echo (Ariadne auf Naxos), Papagena (Magic Flute), Una Suora Cercatrice and Sister Monitor (Suor Angelica), Cinderella, First Woodsprite (Rusalka) and Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare). Dana performed the roles of the little Match Girl and a dying boy in a 2007 world premiere of the children’s opera “The Happy Prince” composed by New England Composer Melissa Carubia, after a short story by Oscar Wilde. In 2009, Dana performed the role of Zerlina (Don Giovanni) in Viterbo, Italy for Tuscia Operafestival and returned to the same festival in the summer of 2011 in the role of First Lady in production of Magic Flute. Dana obtained a Massachusetts teaching licensure and is interested in Kodaly music method. Dana will get her Musikgarten certification this summer.
